VPRS 5143 Stock Register

This series was created by the Legislative Council to record and monitor various stocks. It functioned both as an inventory of the number of items in store, such as publications like Standing Orders, and as evidence of particular functions carried out by the Clerk of the Parliaments. For example, following an election the Clerk would receive copies of ballot papers from the Returning Officer and retain them for 2 years. The destruction of these papers after the elapsed time was recorded in this series. Maps were deposited with the Clerk under the provisions of certain Acts, such as the Schedule to the Forests Act 1907.It would seem from references on certain folios that this series comprised several units. As at 1999, these have not been transferred to PROV custody, and it is not known whether they are extant.
