Distinct Patterns of Mutational Sensitivity for lambda Resistance and Maltodextrin Transport in Escherichia coli LamB

Both pathogenic and nonpathogenic bacteria rapidly adapt to changes in their environment. Understanding the potential costs of these adaptations is critical for understanding how bacteria evolve in their native communities and potentially for developing strategies to prevent bacterial growth. This work represents a novel application of massively parallel sequencing-based assays to answer basic questions about bacterial adaptation.
