Reliable and Relatable Journalists Metadata and Annotations

This repository contains the metadata for the datasets that have been used for analysing personal journalism in Dutch national newspapers in the PhD dissertation Reliable and Relatable Journalists: A Digital Humanities Analysis of Ethos in Personal Journalism. Dataset I contains the metadata and the annotations of a dataset of two constructed weeks for 1999, 2009 and 2019. The codebook describes the annotations of Dataset I. This dataset has been used to gain insight into the epistemic practices that journalists refer to in their ethos construction. A subset of this dataset has been used to train the quote detection model (the associated software can be found on the GitHub link provided). Dataset II contains the metadata of the dataset to which the quote detection has been applied and from which ethos utterances have been extracted for further analysis.
