Melampus jaumei freezing trial transcriptomic project

Specimens were first split into three groups that were incubated in different salinity treatments (5 ppt, 20 ppt, 35 ppt) for a week. Half of the specimens were then cooled down until they froze, while the other half was kept at 4C as a control. Goal of the experiment was to study the interaction between the species' freezing tolerance and the salinity of its environment and see whether that could explain the distribution patterns of the species in the Atlantic region.
