Regional demographic, land-cover, forest, and emissions dataset for the Philippines (2010–2020)

This dataset contains regional-level demographic, land-cover, forest, and emissions data for the Philippines covering the period 2010–2020. The dataset was compiled from publicly available sources, including:(1) Philippine Statistics Authority (Compendium of Philippine Environment Statistics, 2023a, 2023b), and(2) Global Data Lab Geospatial Data repository (version 0.2, 2020). Variables include total population, urban population, level of urbanization, land-cover classes (annual crops, perennial crops, shrubland, grassland, built-up areas, and open or barren land), forest cover (closed forest, open forest, mangrove forest, and total forest cover), and emissions indicators (CO2 and PM2.5). All data were harmonized to the 17 Philippine administrative regions and standardized to percent change between 2010 and 2020 for analytical consistency. This dataset supports the analysis presented in the associated manuscript:“Regional Covariation in Demographic Change, Land-Cover Transitions, and Forest-Cover Dynamics in the Philippines (2010–2020)”. All original data sources remain publicly accessible through their respective repositories.
