Digital Archive from an Archaeological Watching Brief at The Minerals Hospital, Upper Borough Walls, Bath, Bath and North East Somerset, November 2023

The collection comprises site images, and GIS data from an archaeological watching brief at The Mineral Hospital, Upper Borough Walls, Bath. The works were carried out by Cotswold Archaeology in November 2023. No features or deposits were identified during the test pitting which could be securely dated to the Roman or medieval periods, however deposits pre-dating the construction of the current building were recorded and may be associated with these periods. Possible garden soils or deposits associated with the levelling of the site were also recorded, one of which was dated to the late 18th century at the earliest. Geoarchaeological analysis of the window sample boreholes drilled within the courtyard area identified alluvial deposits, which although undated, may be of Roman or medieval date.
