Nockregion–Oberkärnten: Spacial mapping of business locations by sector
收藏资源简介:
This spatial dataset contains georeferenced locations of businesses and public facilities, providing a sector-based representation of local economic activity in the Nockregion-Oberkärnten. The sectors include agriculture and forestry, production, construction, retail, tourism, social services, tech. and economic services and other services. The outcome is a spatial dataset enabling sectoral analysis, regional economic mapping, and visualization of business distribution patterns across the region. Methods & Sources: The dataset was compiled using a multi-method data collection approach, including web-based extraction of Google Maps data and OpenStreetMap (OSM) point-of-interest data, address geocoding and participatory mapping workshops with municipal authorities and mayors. (These workshops were used to validate existing records and to identify missing sectoral information not captured in digital sources.) The spatial data was subsequently consolidated into a unified geodatabase integrating multiple heterogeneous data sources. Thesedata sources include: OpenStreetMap (OSM), Google Maps-derived business information, official administrative records from the Austrian Chamber of Economics, agricultural location data from the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS), datasets from the State of Carinthia, and municipal-level registers and local knowledge collected across 17 municipalities. The dataset represents the situation for the year 2024 and is aggregated at LAU2 level, covering 17 municipalities in the study region. In total, 5,441 businesses and public facilities were geolocated. Sensitivity: Due to the high sensitivity of the data—particularly the risk of re-identification of small and one-person businesses through precise geolocation (adress data)—the dataset cannot be publicly released.
