NRS-16916 | Registers of Admission, Progress and Withdrawal [Limeburner's Creek Public School]

The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school.The series from Limeburner’s Creek Public School is currently represented by its final volume, commenced in October, 1917, in which are recorded admissions to the school from as early as 1909 until the school’s closure in 1966. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school are also recorded; this last column is also used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered sequentially, with girls and boys in different sequences. The numbering with which the volume commences continues that of the previous volume, from which enrolments then current were transferred in October, 1917. The numbering is recommenced in 1924, and again in 1927; in each case current enrolments are re-entered, and the entries are re-numbered from “1.” The numbering is then continuous until the end of 1962, after which each year’s enrolments are numbered anew from “1,” with the last two digits of the year-number prefixed.
