Oceanographic Station Data, and Marine Pollution Data for the Aegean Sea (The Archipelago) and the Ionian Sea

This file contains physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete
depth levels with 80% obtained using CTD instruments, from 3,750 stations. Data
consists of water temperature, salinity, oxygen, water transparency, collected
by multi-bottle Nansen casts with reversing thermometers and water samplers as
well as STD/CTD. Cruise information, position, data and time are reported for
each station. CTD datasets exist since 1985; other data is available for as
early as 1972.

Chemical pollution data exist since 1972 in technical reports and scientific
papers. They concern nutrients, heavy metals and chlorinated hydrocarbons,
taken from approximately 3000 stations. Data have been reduced with Technicon
Autoanalyzer, polarography, and gas chromatography. Sets of basic data on the
radioactive pollution in the Aegean Sea (the Archipelago) and Ionian Sea exist
since 1975. Ecotoxicological data also from studies in the same areas exist
since 1983 and they are archived in technical reports and scientific papers in
paper form.
