In this current study, we compared the transcriptome profiling during the development and ripening of fruit from two Chinese bayberry varieties, white cultivar (Shuijing, SJ) and red cultivar (Biqi, BQ). The structural and regulatory genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis and accumulation were identified successfully, and their expression patterns were analyzed as well.
