Metatranscriptomic analysis of the chicken gut resistome

In the project work, shotgun whole-metatranscriptome sequencing (WMTS) was applied to study the dynamics of the resistome and of the microbiota in the feces of chicken receiving either antibiotic growth promoters (AGP) or therapeutic agents (AB) in combination with a phytogenic feed additive (PFA), representing the active genes and taxa in the colon digestive tract. The aim was to study the impact of AGP, AB and PFA on the expression of antibiotic resistance genes in microbial communities of the chicken gut.
