The primary goal of conducting this study is to establish a reliable analytical system in our laboratory for the routine assessment and quantification of GMOs in food and feed commodities imported to Kuwait’s market, thus contributing significantly to future food safety legislation in Kuwait. The study reports for the first time the employment of duplex droplet dPCR (ddPCR) assay to quantify the authorized maize MON810 event in two maize-derived food and feed commodities sold in the local market of Kuwait. The employed duplex ddPCR assay for the quantification of MON810 maize event was in-house verified and met the minimum performance requirements of analytical methods for GMO testing set by the European Network of GMO Laboratories (ENGL).
