资源简介:
Gnathostoma binucleatum (G. binucleatum) is a parasitic nematode that causes the zoonotic disease gnathostomiasis, which affects humans as well as other animals. Gnathostomiasis is transmitted through the ingestion of an infected intermediate host, such as a fish or a bird. The G. binucleatum parasite has a complex life cycle that involves multiple hosts and stages of development. Despite the public health importance of gnathostomiasis and the culprit G. binucleatum, relatively little is known about the molecular and genomic basis of the parasite's biology and pathogenicity, which is necessary for the development of effective control measures. Parasitic mitochondria can serve as a target for anti-parasitic drugs. A full characterization of a parasite's mtDNA is beneficial in the discovery and development of anti-parasitic drugs. However, only the mitochondrial gene cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (MT-CO1) of G. binucleatum has been characterized. Therefore, we present the full characterization of the G. binucleatum mitochondrial genome.
