Surround of the Askja volcano at the mid Atlantic plate boundry in north Iceland is a known area of persistant small magnitude (<3) upper crustal seismicity. Small size ( <3) lower crustal earthquakes, down to `30 km were unexpectedly discovered in 2006. They are believed to be related to magmatic movements. This project focuses on detections of the deep earthquakes and explaining the processes causing them.
