POSSUM early science data sharing

The data storage will be in service of the Polarisation Sky Survey of the Universe's Magnetism (POSSUM) survey. This survey is now commencing in an early form on the Australia Square Kilometer Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope --- one of the key projects supported by the Pawsey Centre in the form of the Galaxy supercomputer. The commissioning data from the POSSUM survey comprises image data cubes of currently ~250 GB per field, and this is expected to double over the next year as further bandwidth capability is added to the telescope. Moreover, the raw (pre-imaging) data is of order 3 TB per field. We have a need to share POSSUM commissioning data among the core POSSUM team, comprising about 20 individuals situated in numerous countries situated in Australia, North America, and Europe. We expect to want to share image data for up to210 fields (i.e. 10 TB, at the expanded bandwidth capabilities of ASKAP), and the raw data for several fields (~10 TB). To do so directly from the /group disks where they are now located would required granting numerous researchers access to Galaxy itself, which we wish to avoid, and to leave data on /group, which is already regularly filling to near-capacity.
