Distribution of methanisation potential by 2050 by canton

This dataset presents the distribution by canton of the methanisation potentials envisaged for 2050 in metropolitan France.

For more detail, the cantons are understood as those prevailing before Law No. 2013-403 of 17 May 2013, which has halved the number of cantons in France, for a total of 3,689 cantons.

These data were produced in 2017 by the association Solagro during the study “[_A 100 % renewable gas mix in 2050?_](http://www.grtgaz.com/fileadmin/medias/communiques/2018/FR/Etude-mix-gaz-100-pourcent-renouvelable-Etude.pdf)” published in February 2018 by ADEME, GRDF and GRTgaz.

They include, by canton, the potentials accessible by the following primary resources: crop residues, livestock waste, herbs, intermediate environmental multi-service crops or CIMSE, residues from the agri-food industries (AIA), bio-waste in GWh PCS.

These data are intended to be used for the implementation of Decree No. 2019-665 of 28 June 2019 concerning “_the reinforcements of natural gas transmission and distribution networks necessary to allow the injection of biogas produced_”, and of the Order of 28 June 2019 “_defining the detailed rules for the application of Section 6 of Chapter III of Title V of Book IV of the Energy Code”.

They are given in GWh PCS and are agreed before conversion efficiency into injectable gas (see study “[_A 100 % renewable gas mix in 2050?_](http://www.grtgaz.com/fileadmin/medias/communiques/2018/FR/Etude-mix-gaz-100-pourcent-renouvelable-Etude.pdf)”, page 92).
