The following report is an excavation summary and preliminary analysis of Unit 110, a room located within site LA 37767. This site was excavated by both graduate and undergraduate students during the summer of 2001, under the direction of Professors Margaret Nelson, Ph.D. and Michelle Hegmon Ph.D. of Arizona State University. Excavation focused on questions pertaining to environmental impact and degradation related to scale and intensity of occupation as well as strategies of land use within
Mimbres occupations. LA 37767 is a Mimbres Classic Period site with at least three roomblocks and two or three isolated rooms. It is located on a basalt piedmont above the Arroyo Seco Floodplain. The Arroyo Seco is a perennial stream that drains a portion of the Black Range of southwest New Mexico into the Rio Grande.
