Population genetics of the pelagic shrimp Lucensosergia lucens

The pelagic shrimp Lucensosergia lucens, which is known as Sakura-ebi in Japanese, is commercially important species in Japan and Taiwan. However, significant declines in L. lucens catch have been reported in recent years in the Suruga Bay off Japan. In this study, samples of L. lucens were collected in the Suruga Bay (Japan) and waters off north and south Taiwan. For an appropriate understanding of the population structures of L. lucens between Japanese and Taiwanese waters, a genome-wide SNP analysis using MIG-seq was applied to L. lucens. Additionally, genome skimming was used to obtain long mitochondrial DNA and nuclear rRNA sequences to support results of the MIG-seq analysis.
