资源简介:
Between October 5 and November 12, 2009, Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), conducted a Section 110 survey of 1,475 acres and provided condition assessments and spatial data for 11 previously recorded sites at John Martin Reservoir, Bent County, Colorado. The surveyed acreage fell within Priority Area 1, one of five areas defined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Albuquerque District (SPA), and located on USACE fee land north of the east end of the reservoir and upstream of the dam. SRI recorded 28 sites within Parcel 1, consisting of a portion of Priority Area 1, 14 of which were originally recorded in previous surveys and 14 of which were discovered by SRI surveyors. These 28 sites consist of 15 historical-period sites, 8 lithic scatters, 2 lithic scatters with features, 2 rockshelters, and a single paleontological site. The Santa Fe Trail site (5BN391) was relocated but not recorded, as per task order instructions. Eighteen previously recorded lithic scatters were sought but not relocated. SRI also relocated and recorded 10 of the 11 sites previously recorded by the Office of Contract Archeology (OCA) downstream of John Martin Dam. These relocated sites consist of 7 historical-period sites, 1 lithic scatter with features, 1 petroglyph site, and a multicomponent site (ranch site and lithic scatter). One site, 5BN437, was not relocated. SRI surveyors provided submeter Global Positioning System (GPS) data for artifacts, features, site datums, and site boundaries for both newly recorded sites as well as updates to previously recorded sites located within Parcel 1 of Priority Area 1. Individual artifacts were each assigned a unique provenience designation (PD) number and spatial coordinate to a threshold of 250 objects for all sites and isolated occurrences encountered in the project area. No artifacts were collected.
