Root microbiome analysis of rice in Ghana. root metagenome

Ghana is the country located in west Africa, promoting rice production to feed growing population. However, the productivity still remain low due to the low soil fertility and poor accessibility to chemical fertilizer. Root microbiome is one of the important factors for the implementation of sustainable agriculture as alternative for chemical fertilizer. However, there is no specific survey on root microbiome associated with rice in Ghaha. We surveyed rice root microbiome in six rice producing regions in Ghana by Illumina Miseq high through-put amplicon sequencing. The aim of this project is to assess explore the possibility of root-associated microbiomes on sustainable rice production in Ghana.
