The aim of this proposal is to elucidate the dynamic structure–activity relationships of PdAuₓ model thin film and nanoparticle catalysts during selective electrochemical hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) production. By performing in-situ wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) measurements in a custom three-electrode cell under operando conditions, we will monitor potential-induced structural changes at the catalyst–electrolyte interface. The high flux, high-energy X-rays, and grazing incidence geometry available at beamline ID31 are essential to overcome attenuation in aqueous media and to achieve the time resolution required for these studies. The insights gained will contribute to a unified kinetic model that bridges electro- and thermocatalysis for H₂O₂ synthesis.
