Deciphering the Complexity of the Most Complex BAT AGN

The SWIFT BAT hard Xray survey (14 195 keV) has detected a sample of 153local (z 0.03) AGN sources. From this sample, we obtained and analyzed 10 ksXMM EPIC spectra of 22 previously unstudied, in Xrays, BAT AGN. Two sources,ESO 362G018 and NGC 6860, showed very complex, flat spectra, typicallyindicative of a reflectiondominated spectrum, with low column densities. Below2 keV, the Xray spectra show evidence for warm absorption, but without higherquality spectra we can not resolve the true nature of these complex Xraysources. Therefore, we propose high signaltonoise XMM observations to decipherthe two most complex AGN in the 9month BAT survey. In addition to understandingthese unusual spectra, these observations will provide a template for future complex sources discovered. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
