Water Atlas – RH1-Flood Zones Valdevez Arches (Tr 100 years)

The flood areas in Arcos de Valdevez were drawn from the knowledge of the elevations of the runoff surface in 33 cross sections, defined along 4.5 km of the Vez River. The quotas of the drainage surfaces were obtained by hydraulic modeling of the section of the Vez River between Pontilhão de Celeiros and the place of Mó do Cabo. The calculations were made considering the flow rate constant over time and equal to the flood tip flow rate. The full tip flow rates have been determined as follows: 1) From upstream and over 1 km, the peak flow rate determined in the installation section of the Pontilhão de Celeiros hydrometric station, associated with the return periods of 2 and 100 years; 2)In the following 3.5 km, the flood tip flow determined at the confluence section of the River Ázere, associated with the return periods of 2 and 100 years.
