Land Use Netherlands – LGN2020

The LGN2020 file is a national grid file with a resolution of 5 meters in which 48 forms of land use are distinguished. Reference year 2020. The stock distinguishes the main agricultural crops, a number of nature classes and urban classes. The geometry and theme of main classes is based entirely on Top10NL (version 2020). Agricultural plots, greenhouses, orchards, fruit nurseries, tree nurseries, sand, heathland, forests, water and infrastructure have been taken over from Top10NL. The urban area is defined by means of Land Use Residency (BBG2015). The agricultural area is filled with (aggregated) crops from BRP2020 supplemented by crop classifications based on LGN2019. Within the area of nature, no adjustments have been made to LGN2018 and LGN2019. Land use files LGN1 and LGN2 were still experimental stocks with limited accuracy and clear shortcomings. In LGN3, these shortcomings have been largely resolved and LGN3plus greatly improves the usability of the file for applications in the field of nature and ecology. The LGN4 file has taken a new step in expanding the application capabilities of the LGN file. Important improvements in the LGN4 file include a link between agricultural crops and TOP10 vector and the possibility of detecting land use changes that occurred in the period 1995-2000. Versions 1-3 of the LGN file were delivered as a single raster file. The LGN7 file, like the LGN4, LGN5 and LGN6 files, does not consist of a single raster file, but forms a collection of files.
