WI-LOCNESS (Cambridge English Write & Improve & LOCNESS)

WI-LOCNESS was developed as part of the 2019 Shared Task on Grammatical Error Correction for educational applications. It consists of two datasets: LOCNESS, a corpus of essays written by native English-speaking students; and Cambridge English Writing & Improvement (W&I, Yannakoudakis et al., 2018), an online web platform designed to assist non-native English-speaking students with their writing. Specifically, students from across the globe submit letters, stories, articles and essays in response to various writing prompts, and the W&I system provides immediate feedback. Since the launch of W&I in 2014, some of these submissions have been manually annotated by W&I annotators and assigned CEFR proficiency levels.
