Nicotine causes Epstein-Barr virus reactivation in Raji cells

Reactivation of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) from is associated with several disorders, howerver the triggering factors for EBV reactivation remains uncertain. Here, we conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis with utilizing genome-wide association study summary statistics for investigating the causal association of dietary habits, tobacco smoking, and sleep behaviors with anti-EBV IgG seropositivity. We also conducted in vitro experiments to elucidate the mechanisms underlying EBV reactivation by significant risk factors.
