Fecal bacteria of dogs and cats. gut metagenome

The aim was to discover if the complex relationship between the host and Giardia are reflected in the faecal bacterial microbiome. Our hypothesis was that Giardia positive dogs and cats have a different microbiome structure and composition to Giardia uninfected animals. For this purpose, we used naturally infected cohorts of dogs and cats infected not only with Giardia, but also with hookworms and coccidia.
