Reconstructed ancestral states of the appearance timing of all SES characters in each node based on the ‘Scrotifera phylogeny. The illustrated clade includes the following nine nodes: Amniota, Mammalia, Theria, Placentalia, Laurasiatheria, Scrotifera, and Chiroptera. All values were obtained from the heterochronic analyses with PDAP module in Mesquite.
