The Illicium difengpi is a drought-tolerant medicinal plant, mainly born in karst limestone hilltops in Guangxi. At present, there are few researches on drought tolerance of Illicium difengpi and its molecular mechanism is unclear. In this study, drought and rewater treatment were performed on Illicium difengpi, and the transcriptional response characteristics and metabolite abundance changes were analyzed to reveal the molecular mechanism of drought tolerance.
