资源简介:
This data set is associated with the manuscript submitted to JGR: Ocean, which is entitled 'The effects of atmospheric nitrogen deposition on the marine ecosystem of the northern South China Sea'.Brief Summary: The deposition of nitrogen (AD-N) to the ocean, mostly from human fertilizer usage and fossil fuel combustion released into the atmosphere, can impact the offshore ocean ecosystem, and the northern South China Sea (NSCS) is a hot spot of AD-N’s ecosystem influence. This is because the NSCS is surrounded by countries and regions that have rapid economic development and consequently gigantic emission. Recently, understanding has been achieved that the land-sourced AD-N can provide the nutrients that are the bottleneck of ecosystem production. To further understand AD-N’s ecosystem effects on a representative station of NSCS, a one-dimensional physical-biological model was configurated. The results showed that the AD-N could increase the portion of the tiniest phytoplankton group, further resulting in a counter-intuitive reduction of the export efficiency of organic carbon up. Interannually, the AD-N could contribute more to export during weaker wind and lower nutrient conditions. These results highlight the critical role of AD-N for the NSCS, which was overlooked previously, yet should be better represented in the future modeling framework of regional ecosystems.
