WCs NW Digital Surface Model 1

Digital surface models (DOM) are digital, numerical, reduced to a regular grid models of the heights and shapes of the Earth’s surface and of the objects on it, such as vegetation and structures. They represent the situation at the time of recording. Due to different detection times, height jumps can occur e.g. in vegetation and water surfaces. High narrow objects such as e.g. Wind turbines and power towers can only be mapped to a limited extent. As part of its legal mandate, the district government of Cologne, Geobasis NRW, provides the DOM1 with a grid width of one metre. The 3D measurement data obtained from the result of airborne laser scanning (ALS) is used as the basis for data.
