This data repository supports research on the topological analysis of fault surfaces from both natural environments in the Singhbhum Shear Zone, Eastern India, and controlled laboratory experiments. The collection includes field data as well as laboratory data obtained using a laser profilometer. Field data was initially recorded as dip-strike measurements, which were later converted into x-y-z coordinates to create a 3D topological surface. You can visualize and plot the 3D fault surface using CloudCompare software or the MATLAB script 'meshdata_xyz.' Laboratory data, by contrast, was collected with a laboratory-based laser profilometer and is formatted as y-x-z (rather than x-y-z, due to the system's default settings). The recommended approach for visualizing and interpreting this dataset is with the open-source software CloudCompare. In addition to the full 3D data, several profile sections in x-z or y-z format were also collected, representing across-slip and along-slip profiles of the fault surfaces.
