In Xenopus laevis inactivation of exosc9, which encodes a component of the RNA exosome, and of ptbp1, which encodes an RNA binding protein abundant in xenopus embryonic skin, impairs embryonic skin development with the appearance of blisters along the anterior part of the dorsal fin. Deep RNA sequencing of Exosc9 morphant, Ptbp1 morphant and normal embryos were conducted to identify the transcriptomic alterations that underly the phenotypes observed.
