Market share of mobile service providers in Austria during Q3 2017

A1 Telekom Austria AG held the largest share of the mobile service market in Austria, during the third quarter of 2017. The market is largely dominated by three companies, with A1 Telekom, T-Mobile Austria and Hutchison Drei Austria making up 93.3 percent of the market. Mobile subscribers in Austria As of Q1 2017, A1 Telekom Austria AG had approximately 5.5 million customers. T-Mobile Austria had 4.3 million customers, and Hutchison Drei Austria provided a service for 3.7 million customers. During 2017, the number of mobile subscriptions reached 14.92 million, meaning there were 1.69 mobile subscriptions for each of the 8.82 million inhabitants. Devices used in Austria As of 2017, 75 percent of Austrian respondents used a smartphone, according to the Connected Consumer Survey conducted by TNS Infratest and Google. This is a significant increase on the rate seen in 2014, when just 56 percent of inhabitants reported owning a smartphone.
