Deep-mussel Bathymodiolus platifrons lives in cold seep and hydrothermal vent, depending on the nutrient supplied by its methan-oxidizing endsymbiont. We performed the genomics or transcriptomics on the deep-sea mussel Bathymodiolus japonicus and its methanotrophic endsymbionts. The objective of this study is to extend our understanding on the host-symbiont interactions.
