A survey of 88 teacher educators in higher education institutions was conducted to identify key topics and issues that should be included in a professional development course for future teachers. The results showed that the majority of respondents consider pedagogical skills, digital competence, psychological and pedagogical skills, and communication skills to be the most important aspects of teacher professional development. Significant attention should also be paid to the development of emotional intelligence and stress resistance. Regarding career planning, most teachers support the need to teach students how to create a career plan, particularly in terms of professional mobility and adaptation to changes in the labour market. Important topics for a course on self-presentation include CV writing, professional blogging, and communication skills, including public speaking. Digital tools that students need to master include online courses, e-portfolios, and working with online learning platforms. The majority of teachers also emphasise the need to prepare students to adapt to changes in their professional activities, in particular through stress management and uncertainty management techniques. According to the respondents, leadership skills and the basics of educational project management, as well as the importance of lifelong learning, are important components that should be included in the training of future teachers. The results of the survey will help to shape the content of the course for students on professional career development, focusing on the current needs and requirements for teacher qualifications.
