Holiday Habits Survey, Autumn 1983 - Christmas 1984

In the period of 1983-1986, Statistics Norway carried out five surveys concerning holiday habits on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Landslaget for reiselivet i Norge. The purpose was to map the population's holiday habits so that the authorities and the tourism industry could better accomodate for holiday and leisure travel in Norway. In the survey, information such as destination, duration of holidays, accomodation type, transportation, holiday plans and information regarding different types of holidays and shorter trips/weekend trips was gathered.

This dataset concerns the survey that was carried out between the autumn of 1983 and Christmas of 1984. This survey was a test survey and the sample size was therefor smaller compared to surveys conducted at later times.
