Renewable Energy Use at Loudoun County Facilities

Solar: County facilities have a total of 49 kW of solar capacity. The solar arrays generate power to operate the facility as well as produce income from Renewable Energy Credits. Geothermal: County facilities have a total of 962 kW of geothermal capacity. Geothermal energy systems help regulate the temperature inside a building by exchanging heat between the building and the ground, taking advantage of the relatively constant temperature of the ground. The 2023 Energy Strategy includes actions to expand the use of solar and geothermal resources in County operations.
