EFFECT OF CHANGE MANAGEMENT ON EMPLOYEES' COMMITMENT IN MTN COMMUNICATION PLC. NORTH CENTRAL NIGERIA

Abstract: The study examined the effect of change management on employees’ commitment in MTN Nigeria communication Plc North Central, Nigeria. The study specifically ascertained the effect Leadership and communication on employee commitment in MTN Communication Plc North Central Nigeria. A case study design was adopted. The population of the study consisted of 259 employees. The sampling technique employed for the study was census sampling technique. The major instrument used for data collection was questionnaire, and the instrument demonstrated acceptable internal consistency with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.778 for leadership and communication. Data were obtained with a well-structured five-point likert-scale questionnaire administered to the entire 259 respondents. A total of 250 copies of the questionnaire were returned, representing a 96.5% response rate. The data collected were sorted, clean, coded and summarized using Descriptive statistics. Descriptive statistics such as simple distribution tables, frequency and percentages were used to summarized respondents characteristics and responses to the measurement items, while multiple regression was used to test the stated hypothesis at 5% level of significant. Findings from regression estimate indicate that leadership (B = 0.207, β = 0.215, t = 7.925, p = .000), and Communication (B = 0.146, β = 0.197, t = 2.877, p = .004), significantly influence employee commitment in MTN Nigeria communication plc., Based on the findings, the study concluded that change management plays a critical role in shaping employee commitment in MTN Nigeria Communication Plc, North Central Nigeria. The study recommends amongst others that management of MTN Nigerian Communication Plc should intensify investment in leadership programs and review its communication system.
