Throughput of loaded and unloaded containers at the port of Esbjerg 2009-2019

The throughput of loaded and unloaded containers stayed roughly around the same level at the port of Esbjerg between 2009 and 2015, with a fluctuating difference of two to three thousand twenty-foot equivalent units. From 2013 onwards, the number of loaded containers surpassed the number of unloaded containers. In 2019, the throughput of unloaded containers amounted to 13 thousand TEU, while the amount was 14 thousand TEU for loaded containers.The port of Esbjerg was built in 1868 and is today an international transport center with more than 200 companies situated in the port with ten thousand employees. The port of Esbjerg is the largest port in Denmark as well as the leading RoRo port with large amounts of cargo passing through the port. In addition, it is a central port in Europe for shipping out wind power.
