Place of production for keeping animals Certain types of livestock kept in a place must be notified to the Swedish Board of Agriculture. The animals to be reported to the Board of Agriculture are: * Cattle Pigs * Sheep * Goats * Poultry kept for commercial use or if the number exceeds 350 laying hens The place then receives a production plate number for the purpose of tracing animals from one place to another in the event of an outbreak of a contagious animal disease. A production place number consists of the country code SE plus six digits. The production site number is linked to the establishment or place where the activity is carried out. The basic principle is that a production site number refers to a building for animals that are mainly indoors, or a holding if there are a number of densely situated buildings that clearly form one unit. The geographical design of the location determines whether one or more numbers are needed. Located less than 500 metres from each other the crow flies, and there are no other biungulates belonging to anyone else between the places, it is one and the same place of production. If the distance is more than 500 metres or there are other biungulates belonging to someone else between the places, the places shall have different production location numbers. Place of production number during transport Sometimes, for example, a truck or trailer needs to have a production location number. Vehicle production number is required in the following cases: •animals from several production sites are transported together and then left at several places of production •the keeper of the animal at the place of dispatch or destination has no sense of each other. If the animals are heading directly for slaughter, no production place number is required for the transport.
