Microbial colonisation of rodent foetal intestinal tissues. rat metagenome

The present study is focused on ascertaining antenatal microbial colonisation of mammalian foetal intestinal tissues.For this aim, a rodent animal model, allowing sterile experimental conditions, has been studied with a NGS approach, analysing the bacterial population in foetus gut, amniotic fluid and placental tissue in 5 rat embryos belonging to two pregnant rats, via 16S rRNA hypervariable V3-V4 regions amplification.This project was conducted as a part of LITTLE (FOETAL LIFE: STERILE OR NOT STERILE?) initiative.
