YouTube SML Dataset — Public Sentiment Toward AI Tools in Education (VADER Analysis, March 2026)

YouTube comment dataset collected via the YouTube Data API v3 (March 2026) across 5 thematic categories: AI as Teaching Tool, Educator Anxiety, Student Adoption and Academic Integrity, Ethics and Surveillance, and Sustainability of AI-Driven Education. A total of 628 comments were collected from high-engagement videos and analysed using VADER sentiment analysis (Hutto & Gilbert, 2014). Data collected as part of Master's thesis research, LEADS MSc programme, Jönköping University, Sweden. Methodology: YouTube Social Media Listening (SML) + VADER. Results: Theme 1 (AI Teaching Tool): 58.6% Positive; Theme 2 (Educator Anxiety): 63.3% Positive; Theme 3 (Student Adoption): 62.3% Positive; Theme 4 (Ethics/Surveillance): 44.4% Positive, 37.8% Negative; Theme 5 (Sustainability): 44.4% Positive, 44.4% Neutral.
