Three-year drip rate, precipitation, and soil moisture dataset from a mid-latitude continental cave in Croatia (2022-2025)

This dataset provides a three-year record of cave drip rates, precipitation, and soil moisture dynamics from a mid-latitude continental cave in Croatia (Nova Grgosova cave, Samobor). The data was collected to investigate groundwater recharge processes through soil and epikarst and their control on vadose zone hydrology. Drip rates were measured as number of drips per hour with nine Stalagmate® Plus MK2b acoustic drip loggers. An automatic logger (Onset HOBO Rain Gauge RG-3 M) was installed above the cave to obtain a high-resolution precipitation time series with an hourly recording interval. In February 2024, three HydraProbe soil moisture sensors were installed above the cave to measure soil moisture at multiple depths. Data presented here was collected from June 2022 to June 2025.
