A dataset of the Poyang Lake coastlines in dry and wet seasons during 2000 – 2020

Poyang Lake is located in the south of Jiangxi Province and it is the largest freshwater lake directly connected to the Yangtze River. In the wet seasons, the lake was usually more than 3000 km2 and in the dry seasons, the lake retreated to lower than 800 km2. Poyang Lake is very important to regulate the water flows between the lake and the Yangtze River and is valid to protect biological resources and promote economic development of the watershed. Based on high-frequency MODIS data, we obtained series of Poyang Lake coastlines in wet and dry seasons during 2000–2020. This dataset includes 42 series of the Poyang Lake peripheries. The dataset can delineate the tempo-spatial dynamics of the lake inundations and can serve as scientific data to ecological protect and water resources management.
