Genome assembly and annotation of <i>Bouteloua gracilis</i> (<i>Poaceae</i>)

This dataset provides the PacBio HiFi draft genome assembly and annotation of Bouteloua gracilis (blue grama), a perennial bunchgrass widespread across the U.S. shortgrass steppe and Mexican highlands. The assembly was generated with hifiasm and annotated with Helixer for structural gene prediction. The ~808 Mb assembly has an N50 of 4.1 Mb and 98.5% BUSCO completeness. Included files are the genome assembly (FASTA), GFF3 annotations, CDS FASTA, and peptide FASTA. This dataset establishes a genomic foundation for B. gracilis, enabling evolutionary, ecological, and functional genomics research within the Chloridoideae subfamily.
