EndingtheneglecttoattaintheSustainableDevelopmentGoals:aroadmapforneglectedtropicaldiseases2021?2030waspreparedthroughanextensiveglobalconsultationpursuanttodecisionEB146(9)oftheExecutiveBoardatits146thsessioninFebruary2020thatculminatedintheendorsementofthedocumentbytheSeventy-thirdWorldHealthAssemblyinNovember2020.Theroadmapsetsglobaltargetsandmilestonestoprevent,control,eliminateoreradicate20diseasesanddiseasegroupsaswellascross-cuttingtargetsalignedwiththeSustainableDevelopmentGoals.Threefoundationalpillarswillsupportglobaleffortstoachievethetargets:accelerateprogrammaticaction(pillar1),intensifycross-cuttingapproaches(pillar2)andchangeoperatingmodelsandculturetofacilitatecountryownership(pillar3).Thediseasesummariesannexedtotheroadmapdetailthecurrentepidemiologicalstatusandburdenofdisease,corestrategicinterventionsandprogresstowardsthe2020targetsofthepreviousroadmap.Thetargets,sub-targetsandmilestonesfor2030,andthecriticalactionsrequiredtoachievethem,wereusedtogeneratetheevidenceintheroadmapdocumentendorsedbytheWorldHealthAssembly.
