Open pit mining areas and tipping

Areas with extreme anthropogenic influences are the regions with lignite mining. Shown are the open-cast mining and tipping areas of the Lower Lusatia. Here, the natural layer structure is disturbed. Contiguous low-conducting layers in groundwater cover are only present in remnants or no longer. The retention capacity is generally reduced; it depends on the material of the relocated layers, the tilting technology and the measures to restore it.
