资源简介:
Klebsiella quasipneumoniae is commonly misidentified as Klebsiella pneumoniae, as such remains a critically understudied member of Enterobacteriaceae, capable of causing serious human infection.A fever study conducted in Tanzania investigated sepsis among children under 5, identifying isolates with identical resistance profiles found in both blood and faeces. This study aimed to investigate the shared resistances between isolates obtained from gut colonisation and bloodstream infection, determining the role of horizontal gene transfer in the spread of resistance genes. This isolate was obtained from a faecal sample of a neonatal with bloodstream infection. Analysis of this genome identified novel sequence type Klebsiella quasipneumoniae subsp. similipneumoniae, identified through chromosomally-encoded bla-OKP-B-8. The novel ST arose from a nonsynonymous substitution in malate dehydrogenase-encoding gene mdh55.
