Areas in Istanbul Where Meetings and Demonstrations are Permitted by the State (2007-2023)

This data set shows the names, coordinates, number, type and years of the Areas Allowed to Organize Meetings and Demonstrations in Istanbul, which are updated and republished every year by the Istanbul Governorship. Data between the years 2007-2013 (data for 2012 could not be accessed) were accessed from newspaper websites, architecture websites and online newspapers. These sources have the characteristics of secondary sources. However, the news was created by citing primary sources directly. Data between 2014 and 2023 were taken from the Istanbul governorship website, which is the primary source. Data that do not have any meaning separately become meaningful when combined and visualized. The areas published by the geographical coordinates creator were confirmed using maps on the internet (yandex maps, google maps, HGM Atlas, Istanbul City Map) and their geographical coordinates were determined numerically.
